The Cat5 RS232 Extender is a low cost, hardware-based solution providing remote access and control of any RS232 protocol device. Usually with RS232 devices, you are limited to an immediate area of control. However, this Cat5 RS232 Extender extends control to over 3,300ft (1,000m). This provides you with a tremendous amount of flexibility in your topology. Now you can place RS232 devices in any location you want and control them remotely. The RS232 Extender also provides full duplex transmission and is compatible with all RS232 protocols.

Installing the Extender is quick and easy. Thanks to its simple architecture, all you do is plug and play! The system itself is composed of two units both made of sturdy metal casing: the Local Unit and the Remote Unit. The two units are connected via standard CAT5 cable. Because the Cat5 is extremely thin, it is easy to install and does not create cable clutter. A single supply powers the system, and can be placed at either end, whichever is more convenient.
